2024-25 The exchange with the sister school in Xiamen

Our school's Civic Education Committee held the exchange program with our sister school in Xiamen from 11th April to 15th April, 2025.

Our S3 Students went to Xiamen to engage with our sister school (Xiamen No. 5 Middle School) to enhance their understanding of domestic culture and integrate what they learned from the exchange with their academic knowledge to promote student learning.

On the first day, students took the High-speed rail to Xiamen, and upon arrival, they went to Xiamen No. 5 Middle School for a welcome ceremony and campus tour, allowing students from both schools to get to know each other.

On the second and third days, students from Xiamen No. 5 joined our students for activities. We visited the Yunshuiyao Tulou (including Heguai Lou, Yunshuiyao Ancient Road, Huaiyuan Lou, and the Heikeng Tulou). During the visit, students learned about the architecture of the Tulou, understanding the concept behind the architect's creation. Additionally, through hands-on activities, students experienced the process and methods of building a Tulou. Furthermore, through workshops, students could try decorating the exterior of the Tulou and learn dragon dance inside the Tulou, making the entire Tulou course more vibrant.

On the third day, our students and Xiamen No. 5 visited the Baidu Feijiang AI Exhibition Center to listen to presentations and lectures and experienced an AI creation course. The students were very engaged and showed great interest in new technology! In the afternoon, we went to Longzhou Pond in Jimei District to participate in a dragon boat training activity. Initially, students were a bit nervous. After basic skills training, they managed to handle the dragon boat quite well. Afterwards, our students went to Zhongshan Road pedestrian shopping street to buy souvenirs.

On the fourth day, our students temporarily separated from those at Xiamen No. 5. We visited the Chenxiang Museum, where each student wore traditional clothing, feeling as if they had returned to ancient times. After that, we participated in Chenxiang culture experiences and practical activities, gaining a deep understanding of the origins of Chenxiang and the methods of making it. In the afternoon, students went to Xihe Shan in Anxi, Quanzhou to experience [tea picking and traditional tea making] study activities. After learning about tea picking, students went to the tea garden to pick tea leaves, which they then dried, significantly increasing their knowledge about tea!

On the last day, our students returned to Xiamen No. 5 for a summary of the exchange and learning. Finally, each school selected ten outstanding campers! Thus, our five-day journey came to an end!

After the trip, students shared their highlights: the most popular dishes were steamed water eggs with clams and sweet and sour pork, the most popular activities were the Tulou and Chenxiang Museum visits, and they expressed gratitude to those who helped them and shared breakthroughs. They appreciated each other and noted many learning and breakthrough experiences, including delivering welcome speeches on behalf of the school, sharing feelings, helping classmates, and exchanging ideas with students from Xiamen No. 5. Everyone happily participated in the five-day exchange activities!
